Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics is founded on standards of professional behaviour, and intellectual and moral virtues. Honesty, courtesy, good faith and integrity are the cornerstones of the principles that guide the members in the performance of their duties.
The members will:
- Perform their duties according to the OAHI Systems
Inspection Standards.
- Conduct their practice with integrity and honesty, and will show courtesy and good faith towards each client.
- Not provide opinions or make statements unless they are qualified to do so through their training or experience.
- Consider all information resulting from the inspection to be confidential, and will not disclose any information without the approval from the client or the client's representative.
- Not attempt to gain advantage over other members of the profession by paying or accepting commissions, fees or otherwise in securing work.
- Not pay or accept commissions, fees or otherwise from other parties who have an interest in their client.
- Not accept compensation for the same service from more than one party, except with the full knowledge of all interested parties.
- Not use the inspection as a method of securing non-inspection related work.
- Conduct themselves professionally, and show courtesy and good faith toward other members and practitioners in the industry so as to advance and maintain the integrity of the home inspection industry.
- Report violations of this code, especially unprofessional or dishonest conduct by other members to the Association.
